Off-topic: Boston Legal

On a whim, I picked up season one of Boston Legal on my way out of Best Buy ($20). I’ve caught a few episodes here and there and quite liked it, but it’s a serialized show, so it was always difficult staying interested in the long running story archs.

This is a GREAT series. The story lines are smart and the James Spader character (Alan Shore) is insidious and funny, yet always trying to do the right thing.

I never thought William Shatner could break his Captain Kirk stereotype, but his quirky Denny Crane character is a long shot from Kirk – except for the womanizing part, and even that can get a little… uhhh… strange (one-legged women??). Denny Crane and Alan Shore balance each other well, and the usual closing scene on the patio wraps up the episodes well.
