From my simple mind to… mine…

Alternate route to San Antonio from Dallas-Fort Worth

leave a comment »

I recently discovered a new route to San Antonio from DFW. I love it so far… for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, I was able to get to my parent’s place in San Antonio in roughly 5 hours. On I-35, it normally takes at least 6 hours during the busy holidays. The traffice simply backs everything up!!

And… it’s a BEAUTIFUL drive. Be cautious at night… you can’t see anything! 🙂

Directions from Dallas-Fort Worth to San Antonio, TX.

1. Take any road to US Highway 67 (I take 360 south to 287 south to 67).

2. Then go southwest through Glen Rose about 13 miles to the Texas 220 cut-off at Chalk Mountain (keep a close eye out for this turn to your left).

3. Follow Texas 220 through Hico to the junction of US Highway 281, then go south.

4. Continue on US Highway 281 South through Hamilton, Evant, Lampasas, Burnet, Marble Falls, Johnson City and Blanco to the Guadalupe River. Then on to San Antonio.
